For more than 10 years, Frank Lara worked on litigation teams that represented entities and individuals in complex commercial, bankruptcy and appellate litigation in federal and state court. Mr. Lara’s representative matters include:

  • Directing litigation for a billion-dollar real estate investment company, coordinating strategy with 25+ large and midsize firms throughout the United States. Disputes covered a broad range of issues including: real estate, commercial contracts, corporate bankruptcy, contract law, business torts, and federal and state appeals. Mr. Lara successfully drafted a number of summary judgment and other dispositive motions, oppositions and appeals in federal and state courts, helping the company and its investors recover tens of millions of dollars.
  • Directing litigation for a multimillion-dollar commercial and residential owner-landlord. The engagement involved a series of plaintiff-side and defense-side trial and appellate litigations in state and bankruptcy courts following a forced corporate bankruptcy. Mr. Lara managed a wide array of bankruptcy litigation, including automatic stay relief, plan confirmation, executory contracts, discharge and dischargeability issues, fraudulent conveyances, preferences, cash collateral, and bankruptcy appellate litigation.

Mr. Lara also served as the corporate compliance manager to a multimillion-dollar marine manufacturer, counseling the company’s owner in connection with corporate governance, risk and compliance matters, fair labor, and internal investigations. Mr. Lara ensured company compliance with national industry manufacturing standards, prepared releases, NCAs, NDAs and sales contracts, and led internal investigations concerning employee complaints. Mr. Lara’s corporate experience, both with family owned businesses, as well as with publicly traded giants such as Stanley Black and Decker and MetLife, where he worked prior to attending law school, helps to set him apart from other attorneys in understanding business and making sure his clients’ corporate objectives take priority.

Mr. Lara began his legal career as an associate/law clerk for AV-rated business litigation firm founded by former Greenberg & Traurig partners where he drafted advisory memos on a variety of corporate matters including: ownership disputes, D&O liability, securities, receiverships, creditors’ rights, breach of contract, business torts (fraud, tortious interference, deceptive trade practices), employment and real estate litigation.

Mr. Lara has also engaged in significant volunteer and pro bono work, helping to secure tenant rights in public housing, wrongful eviction and discrimination cases for individuals unable to afford representation.
